Ever wonder how to automatically add your old or new YouTube videos to a playlist? I found myself wasting too much time adding each individual video to my playlists that when I stumbled across this auto add feature I had to let you know!

This week’s #SocialMediaMinute will cover how to auto add YouTube videos to a playlist.

Keep in mind, this feature only works for video content you’ve uploaded and does not automatically add other users’ uploaded videos to a playlist you’ve created.

How to Automatically Add YouTube Videos to a Playlist

You’ll first want to access your playlists from your YouTube creator dashboard. From here, navigate to playlist settings. Next, click on the auto add tab. Now here’s where you’ll define rules for videos to be automatically added to your selected playlist. New videos fitting any of these rules will also automatically be added which is awesome!

Adding rules is easy, simply click on add rule, then create one. Keep in mind you can also add more than one rule to refine your list.

Once complete, click save and you can then choose to add your recent videos that match your new rules into the playlist . This can save you a lot of time especially if you have numerous videos not  currently in playlists.

Takeaway

YouTube’s auto add feature is really just a big time saver and when it comes to managing social media time is a valuable thing. Placing your videos in relevant playlists also helps audience retention on your channel and may get more of your content seen. Playlists also appear in search results so make sure to take additional time optimizing playlist titles and descriptions.

Do you utilize YouTube playlist? Can you see this auto add feature saving you more time? Let me know in the comments below and make sure to come back next week for more social media tutorials.

Ever wonder who your top YouTube subscribers are? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a handy list of subscribers that conveniently displays your most popular or recent subs?

It sure would be! And thankfully that feature is now available on YouTube!

Now there’s more than one reason you’ll want to know this info so check it out in the video tutorial below.

Finding your Top YouTube Subscribers

While you can access your top YouTube subscriber list from your creator studio dashboard, the easiest way to navigate there is to go to: Youtube.com/subscribers when logged in.

From here, YouTube will display your most recent subscribers in a list by default.

To find your top YouTube subscribers, simply change the view setting to “most popular.”

You’ll then see a list of your influential YouTube subscribers based on their amount of subscribers.

Now what’s important here is what you do with this information. Here’s some next steps.

The Next Step

From your top YouTube subscribers list you can perform actions such as subscribing back to the user or send them a direct message.

For example, for new subscribers you could send a welcome message or thank you message. When’s the last time you’ve received a thank you message from a YouTube channel!?

More importantly you can use this YouTube subscribers list to send your top YouTube subscribers messages to collaborate.

Takeaway

Remember, YouTube isn’t just a place to host your videos, there’s also a thriving community of content creators and viewers. Finding and connecting with your top YouTube subscribers using this new dashboard will help you build relationships that may lead to future opportunities.

How else do you connect with your subscribers? Who is your top YouTube subscriber? Let me know in the comments below and make sure to come back next week for more social media tutorials.

This week’s #SocialMediaMinute will cover how to use YouTube realtime video analytics for your video content marketing strategy.

Now if you can’t wait for your regular YouTube video analytics to aggregate your most recent video engagement, this update is definitely for you and has been a feature request from content creators for awhile.

I think these YouTube realtime analytics are a welcome sight, and though I wouldn’t recommend letting the data distract you from getting work done, you should be interested in seeing the initial response to your latest videos after publishing.

YouTube has been very diligent in adding numerous beneficial tools for its creators and this new feature comes shortly after other updates including a new comment moderation dashboard as well as adding new intro videos to your older published YouTube videos.

Benefits of YouTube Realtime Video Analytics

This information can provide you early insights into the performance of your videos and can be used to adjust their promotion strategy going forward.

Seeing realtime data can also be very rewarding! I know I love to see the performance and distribution after each new social media tutorial I publish.

How Realtime is Realtime?

It’s important to note that YouTube realtime analytics data isn’t EXACTLY realtime, as in it’s a few minutes behind actual playbacks. Thankfully you’ll notice that YouTube will auto refresh the video analytics window around every 10 seconds automatically.

Realtime Data Available

You can see two graphs for every video:

  • Hour-by-hour data is available for a sliding window of 2 days (“Last 48 hours”)
  • Minute-by-minute data is available for a sliding window of 1 hour (“Last 60 mins”)

Both graphs are referring to the local time zone of the viewer as determined by the computer’s setting.

Now if you want to see realtime video analytics activity on an older video, simply search for it in the search field above. And you can also choose to show realtime analytics for a group of videos if you’ve set one up.

Takeaway

This type of realtime video analytic data will not only show you the health of your YouTube videos, but can give you an initial performance report before it’s added to your regular YouTube reports.

Will you be taking advantage of YouTube realtime video analytics? What other features would you like to see YouTube add to its creators dashboard in the future? Let me know in the comments below and see ya next week for more social media tutorials.

The intro to your YouTube videos can make or break your audiences first impression with your channel.

After much consideration, YouTube recently rolled out a new feature allowing users to create a distinctive intro for their videos , making it easier to build a consistent brand fans will recognize.

This week’s #SocialMediaMinute will teach you how to add an intro video to YouTube videos including adding new intro videos to old YouTube videos.

How to insert intro videos into YouTube

Consider the Following

YouTube will only allow you to use a video up to 3 seconds as an intro which is just enough time to flash your logo, along with any jingle that is recognizable to your brand.

You can choose whether to add a video intro to all of your videos, or just the ones you’ve uploaded after a certain date .

And don’t worry, you can always remove or change the intro later.

Note that these intros may not be used as:

  • Ads
  • Sponsorships
  • Product placements

YouTube also recommends not using this on channels that use their videos as advertisements.

Takeaway

YouTube seems to recognize the power of branded videos and viewers seem to prefer them too. Now for those of us who haven’t included an intro into past or current YouTube videos, this new feature is a great way to revamp your content.

However, be sure to ask yourself if it would make sense at all to add an intro video. For example, I create my own intros as a part of the original production so I won’t be using this feature too much.
